I was surprised to see a mandarin duck sitting on the branch in the willow where the ospreys usually perch to dive after fish. The red kites also continue to make dives and pick off the dead fish or nesting material. The little egret was very interested in watching the osprey dive and catch a fish, you can almost read its thoughts “I wish I could do that !!” There is so much activity around this pond, kingfishers, grey wagtails, swallows, kestrels, mallards all spend time around this little oasis at Horn Mill.
