Peregrines fledging

June 15th, 2019

This is the first time I have been able to photograph the moment a young peregrine has fledged. It was amazing to watch the bird as it flapped its wings faster and faster, nodding its head in the build up to its first leap into the air. However the landing needed a bit more practice, a very ungainly crash on to the bank. Adult male and female birds were in attendance with the male bringing food in. This all took place on a very overcast day in a break in the weather before it rained for the rest of the day.
