Stone Curlews

September 21st, 2013

These images are of a bird that is classified as one of the rarest birds in the UK. Although it stands 17 inches (42 cm) high it is very difficult to see much less to photograph. Their protected sites are well fenced and patrolled and these shy birds gather about 200 meters away. I spent two months getting these images with many visits to the site. Trying to get quality images of the birds proved impossible given the distance, weather and the birds camouflage.
