These images show how beautiful these birds are with a range of colours from dark red through to pale beige. At this site near the M40 there were around 60 birds competing for food and nesting sites, some birds had missing feathers and looked like they had been fighting. Kites have steadily spread throughout the UK but the appearance of these big birds in new areas always causes great excitement. Their distinctive forked tail distinguish them from buzzards and other birds of prey.
