All the images of the stone curlews were taken at a long distance with 1000mm (500+2x) lens so difficult to achieve the usual standard of sharpness. The birds have special protection as a schedule 1 bird and is also protected under Annex 1 of the EU Birds Directive. Each of their sites are well protected and fenced off preventing any close access to the birds. The images posted are from 3 early morning visits to a site where there are about 40 birds. The last posted image was taken very early morning with a mist over the site which gradually cleared to reveal more stone curlews.
